Are you thinking about getting bees or already have bees and looking for support? Here are three recommendations:
- Join your local beekeeping group or club.
- Purchase and read Beekeeping for Dummies. Another excellent resource is The Beekeeper’s Handbook (4th Edition) by Diana Sammataro.
- Find a beekeeping mentor to help you get started and help answer questions. The Chaffee County Extension has started a beekeeping mentorship training program. If you are interested in being connected with a beekeeping mentor, or building the skills to become a mentor, please contact Kurt Jones at the Extension office at 719-539-6447.
- Take a class on beekeeping for beginners. CCBA does offer classes during the year. Stay in touch by joining our email list, following us on Facebook and coming to our monthly meetings to learn more.
